Mid-Mounted Boom MowersChallenger 525B with 5' Rotary Mower

Mid-Mounted Articulated Boom Mowers are featured on Challenger RMS® 525B and 535B tractors.  The mowers are used for grass, brush, and limbing applications.

Integrated PowerPlate frame components are CAD engineered by Little and factory endorsed by Challenger, for the creation and assembly of the mowing industries first Roadside Maintenance System.  Challenger and Little work together to ensure all systems and structures perform as a fully integrated system, with no compromise in safety, durability, or mowing performance.  From the ground up, starting at the wheels and tires on through the tractor power train, the PowerPlate full frame and Dynamx T-1 Booms, and out to the cutting blades on the head, all components are designed and selected for dedicated full time use in severe duty roadside mowing applications.

Little Boom Mowers offer the following features:

·         Short, medium & long boom combinations

·         Exceptional ranges of motion

·         Arms constructed of ASTM 514 T-1 steel plate

·         4-Axis electronic joystick for operator control and comfort

·         Forward and reverse break-away swing

·         Integrated PowerFrame

·         Separate protected hydraulic reservoir for mower circuit

·         Seal-lock hydraulic couplers, 8x hose rating

·         Counterweight and wheel weight packages available for machine stability

·         Best warranty in the industry

·         4’ and 5’ cut width Rotary and Flail Brushcutters available

The electronically controlled Articulated Arms are matched with Little Rotary or Flail Brushcutters. The Brushcutters are hydraulically driven PowerFrame and Counter Weights on Challenger 525Busing an independent reservoir that is isolated from the tractor.

The Boom is attached to the tractor via an integrated PowerFrame.  The frame is designed to minimize the torsional loading on the tractor, thus extending the life of the tractor.  The frame is factory installed by Little.

One of the unique characteristics of the Little Boom is the direct acting rotary cylinder used for angular positioning of the Boom.  The rotary actuator eliminates push-pull cylinders and linkages for improved reliability and reduced maintenance.  The actuator has a massive bearing area, with hydraulically pressurized thrust bearings to take the load.

Shoulder Mowers

Shoulder Mowers are featured on the Challenger RMS® 400 series tractors.

 Features:

  • Heavy-duty welded plate construction

  • 1/4” ASTM 514 steel cowl and endplates

  • Direct acting rotary actuator

  • 140° vertical motion

  • Hydraulic head float

  • Blade options include grass or brush

  • Seal-lock hydraulic couplers, 8x hose burst rating

  • Operator visibility and control

  • Secure transport storage (meets DOT reqs.)

These mowers provide either 5’ or 6’ width cut and can be combined with a Pull Behind mower for up to 13’ cut width.  A double-sided mower (heads on either side of the tractor) increChallenger MT465 Single Sided Shoulder Mowerases the swath to over 17’.

A variety of shafts are available which feature superior grass to light brush cutting.  The Shoulder Mower is commonly combined with a Pull Behind mower to increase mowing width to a maximum of 14’ full cut.

Operator visibility, control, and stability are hallmarks of Little's Shoulder Mowers.  These mowers provide the best solution in the industry.

The Shoulder Mower has a secure transport storage position (meets DOT width) that locks the head to the tractor for transporting the unit.

The mower is attached to the tractor via an integrated PowerFrame.  The frame is designed to minimize the torsional loading on the tractor, thus extending the life of the tractor.  The frame can be installed by the Dealer, or can be installed by Little at one of it's installation locations.

One of the unique characteristics of the Little Shoulder Mower is the direct acting rotary cylinder used for angular positioning of the head.  The rotary actuator eliminates push-pull cylinders and linkages for improved reliability and reduced maintenance.  The actuator has a massive bearing area, with hydraulically pressurized thrust bearings to take the load.
